Automatic membrane flushing is a process integrated into some small-scale RO water purification systems. It is designed to periodically and automatically clean and flush the RO membrane to remove accumulated impurities, particles, and fouling substances. 
Automatic membrane flushing typically involves the RO system diverting a portion of the purified water produced (permeate) back through the membrane, effectively flushing out accumulated impurities. This process is usually automated and can be programmed to occur at regular intervals, ensuring consistent membrane maintenance without manual intervention.
